S&D Powernics new grid-tie hybrid inverter shown above(iG PCS) uses a micro-generator design topology and utilizes diverse power sources such as solar, battery & grid power.
For example, if there is sufficient solar power, then the load powered by iG PCS will be powered by iG PCS will be powered by solar power. Extra solar power can be sold to electric utility company by sending the extra power back into the grid (if the user uses the "sell power" mode).
If there is insufficient solar power, then the iG PCS can use battery as its backup power source (or grid power if customer chooses also depleted). During AC failure, it will operate as a UPS with solar and battery power. All power sources are operated in parallel and linked to the DC voltage using "DC link" control algorithm. By intelligent and optimized use of solar,battery and grid power, the grid-tie iG PCS provides electric power to the load using the most environment-friendly, economical and reliable way possible. |

Fuzzy ControlAlgorithm for Maximum Utilization of Photo Voltaic (Solar) Power |
• If PPV is more than PLoAo: Load is powered by PPv and .6-P[PPv- PLoAo] is sent to the
Grid[excess power is sold to utility]
• If PPV is less than PLoAo : Load is powered by PPv + PsAn+ PuTILITY
• If PPv is not present [i.e.at night] : Load is powered by PsAn+ PuTILITY
• If PuTILITY is not present [i.e. utility blackout] : Load is powered by PsAn+ PPv |
Smart Grid Mode |
• Step1 :If grid is at high demand condition, then iG PCS can be instructed to operate on PPV
+ PsAnonly, reducing the demand on the Grid.
• Step2 :When the grid is at peak condition, iG PCS can be instructed to sellits excess power back
to the Grid, effectively adding to the Grid's totalpower |
Incorporates Grid-tie Disconnect if Unbalance Occurs in the Grid's Three Phase |
A new major problem with selling single-phase power back to grid was discovered recently.
• Solution : iG PCS will stop selling power if it receives "Disconnect" signalfrom the grid[see
